Artist Statement

Dan Sweetman is a seasoned singer-songwriter, composer, and former studio producer with over four decades of songwriting experience. Based in Connecticut, Dan's music blends emotional storytelling with handcrafted arrangements rooted in acoustic, folk, jazz, and cinematic traditions. His catalog, now spanning over 300 original works, reflects a lifelong dedication to writing honest, heartfelt songs that resonate with grace, memory, resilience, and hope.

Dan spent nearly 20 years working in a professional home studio, composing lyrical works and instrumental soundtracks. That deep foundation informs his approach today: never as "press and play", but as a carefully directed process where every lyric, chord progression, and sonic choice is shaped with intention.

With a fast-growing catalog of fully produced, ASCAP registered songs, and a monthly EP release schedule on Bandcamp, Dan is building a rare body of work that spans generations and genres while remaining deeply personal. His songs reflect timeless truths and the enduring belief that music can still help us feel, remember, and connect.

My music is written from lived experience and shaped through a deeply human creative process. I use modern tools, including AI, as part of a hands-on, guided workflow, not as a replacement for artistry. This is not "prompt and play," but intentional songwriting rooted in lyricism, structure, and emotional storytelling developed over decades of musical work.
